Top 10 annoying things about GW
Here is my list of annoyances I've experienced with GW since the beta and release. Feel free to comment or add your ideas to the list. These are just some random thoughts that I hope will improve as time passes.
10) People claiming certain builds are better than others. Every game has a build that works better for certain aspects of a game. However instead of accepting someone’s choice they think they are the #1 player and try to insult players for their choices and creativity.
9) NPC’s are completely stupid, but very useful when can’t find someone you need. (Exmaple: 50/50 chance that your healer NPC (Alesia) will try to tank running out in front and dying. ROFL there goes signet.
8) Post searing 90% of all groups of monsters (mobs) link. Give me a break its one think if they are within a range of each other to call. But you can attack one monster and he’ll do a silent scream that travels across all of ascalon to his partner not even on compass and they come running.
7) How about some 1-on-1 PvP anyone? What better way to claim fame than to have jobs battling each other in PvP areas to claim yourself the best Elementalist. We’ve all had the experiences of ganking and naked killing, etc. But choose your battles wisely. Class vs. Class is another great way to claim fame and bragging rights as the best of your job.
6) More items and armors, and more randomness on items and armors. It’s great the game that is nicely structured on skill not having a Windforce or having Peacok Amulet. However, I think there should be more items with more randomness. Making jobs basically have same weapons and same damage proves nothing. When you battle with all same gear it basically comes down to 1 thing skill. Which this game is based on, but we all need a little luck or that extra edge now and then.
5) There is an insane number of guilds already created. IMO I would think you’d rather play with some people and get to know them before just inviting any Joe Blow to your guild. From previous experiences on MMORPG’s get to know someone before making a mistake and having the worst possible person in your guild.
4) People already trying to scam on a game that’s not that hard. This is not a D2 game where you need hacks and bot programs. Hell if you are already trying to scam people you're a LOSER. Go out and do 10 minutes of work and hunting and you can get what you need most times.
3) 12 year old kids calling names (racial slurs, pwnage, noobs, nub, noobie, etc.). Gotta love the punks who come to a game talking $h** thinking they are big and bad. When in real life they tend to be the punk *$$ kid who runs from confrontation.
2) As of yet there is no Auction House or mailing system. It would be much easier to reduce spamming and transferring to an Alt character or a friend if they aren’t on with mailing system.
and
1) People invite you w/o a word, then get pissed because you don’t accept not knowing what quest they are doing or what they want. Whatever happen to messaging someone and asking for help if they need it or if they want to quest. (Do not just assume anyone wants to party b/c you have no idea what they need or what they are doing. Show a little respect and maturity and ask someone first.)

Most of those things about the GW community and could be eventually applied to just any online RPG game out there.
7 - Understand that there are builds which are designed with group PvP in mind and very weak on their own. GW PvP is all about Group battles, otherwise it would be called Guildmember's War. Mirror matches *could* be interesting though.
6 - Partially you yourself answered to this. The game has a fair ammount of interesting items. Play some more and you'll find them. Get an expert salvage kit to salvage those weapon mods.
2 - Yes, this is still a problem.

Completely agree with #9 and #6
For pete sake, why are the npc so dumb? I got killed during a quest yesterday when I approached a mob, my 3 henchman just stood there watching me take hits, didn't even move. Bug? IMHO the healers are complete idiots.
Also a lot of instances where there are missing NPCs that you need to speak to, etc.
As for #6, I know someone will jump in and say "this game is not about uber weapons", I think I heard that 600 times already. However it's a hard fact that there is not a big variety in items, armor and weapons which cuts down gameplay a lot. Hopefully in an expansion pack.

I fail to see the greatness of a flag runner build in tombs just to have a supposedly higher chance at winning the CTF part. There are just some times where the other person is plain wrong. However, the ideal thing to do is to just nod, and smile. Like this

10) Some builds are better than others. It is quite possible to make a stupid build. No build is better than all others, but a partial ordering is possible.
9) I haven't seen Alesia tank. She does ranged attack when she has no healing to do, and enemies attack her.
8) NPC teams are like player teams, attack one and you attack all. You don't attack nearby monsters that belong in a different team. Guild Wars combat is team vs. team, rarely teams ganging up on a single enemy.
7) Guild Wars is not designed for 1v1 combat. It should be added anyway, cause there are things that has to be settled man to man, but it shouldbe clear that it is even less meaningful than the random arenas. Maybe both players should be given clown makeup...
6) Maybe items that have even larger combined drawbacks and advantages than today... Balance is important!
5) We need a way to combine guilds... Everybody seem to have their own.
4) For some people, scamming *is' the game. The other side of it is that you don't lose much being scamed.
3) That's called role playing :-)
2) An auction house would affect the economy a lot, and require some thought. Meanwhile, enjoy the medieval feel of the spam market :-9
1) Getting pissed is a bad idea. But blind invites in mission outpost are fine, and ib pre-Searing accidental invites must be expected.

I think the biggest annoyance is the amount of invisible walls & lack of movement freedom you characters have.

Regarding # 9,
I have done most of the missions with a friend and mostly hench.
I was mistaken that the hench all suck.
If you have a well balanced party, play your charcter roles accordingly and focus your attacks i've found you do quite well.
Its true that lots of monsters go straight for Alesia. The key is to have your warriors intercept them.
She does get herself into precarious situations sometimes and ends up dying, but its not a suicidal personality affliction she has.
I am playing a W/Mo ATM and have the ressurect spell.
If you banking on all your heals and rez from Alesia, then methinks your in trouble anyway.
Remember, real people do stupid things sometimes, but there is no substitute for a well-skilled real person ally.
I and most people would probably prefer real party members over the AI of an NPC hench, but they serve well in a pinch.

Wanna bet on that one?
My most annoying irk about Guild Wars, the lack of social interaction and the lack of social features that the devs implemented.

I agree with 5 and 8. There really needs to be a way for guilds to communicate with each other. And right now I'm in the desert and enemies seem to have a way to come up from the sand 8 at a time, which for a 6 man group doesn't last that long.

Try playing with the healer when your a tank. She suicides all the time, running in front of the party. Not some of the time, not most of the time, but all the time. In fact my guild doesn't even referr to her as a healer any more, she's been offically dubed "Miss Suicide".
I believe what she's trying to do is use Healing Touch on the Warriors, but then gets damaged, heals herself, doesn't move, gets damaged, doesn't move, etc.
Hopefully Anet will notice this more often and get a fix in to keep her back some more, until then we'll have fun playing bets on when she'll be successful in her next suicide attempt.

Whats worse is when she start evading while your attempting an area heal. Evading some times for NO reason. Actually all NPCs do this. I wish you could give standing orders much the same way an RTS... like select an NPC or select all and right click Attack at Will, Defend, Defend and Retreat, Retreat.

Alesia has Warrior envy FOR CERTAIN!!! That is until she gets hit, and then I'm not swinging my sword but rather having to chase the MOB who's intent on kicking her butt..lol.
On top of that, the NPC's should be tagged to the person who invited them to a group. I was escorting a friend thru Deisia (sp) and ASC Lowlands, so that he could get to Yak's, well he hired the healer but since I was leading.....that mindless Alesia followed me rather than my friend.....well I do have a cute butt but still!!! Then when I do break her free of the melee, she backs so far off that she agro's another mob.

guildwars doesnt have chain aggro (unlike other games)
mobs are linked in groups
- but ive seen hostile mobs run thru a another group of mobs and the 2nd group did not aggro the party

My solution for 5 in my guild is that I have myself as a guild leader, and 3 people as permanent officers. For standard members in my guild, I work them on a referral program. Any member who refers a guild member to me to be invited is basically that member's sponsor. If that new member is in for a week without proving himself to be a jackhole, then the sponsor is promoted to Officer for the purposes of invitation. From then on, they can invite whoever they want, but they are bound by their invitations, and if anyone they invite needs to be booted, they lose their officer status and must build it back up with a new referral.
Also, my guild NEVER advertises in ! that we're recruiting. The quality of players that you get when you're not personally feeling out the recruit ends up being horrible.
My only real gripe with this game is the inability to make my own chat channel within the game. If we could do that, then we could effectively have guild alliances and have a chat channel for inter-guild chat.

This is bullshit. No matter what group of mobs I face, they ALL gank the healer.
